We are incredibly blessed to live here in Santa Barbara and look forward to giving…
The Community Environmental Council’s Green Gala
A few weeks ago, one of my favorite events of the year took place, the Green Gala put on by the Community Environmental Council. The CEC, as we are called, has been around since 1969 and I have been involved with this organization as a board member and now alumni and President’s Council member for over 10 years.
This was the second year that I co-chaired the event with my good friend Leanne and this year another friend, Carolyn joined us on stage to welcome the crowd of over 300 guests and tell a little bit about why we support and are connected to this important organization. Here are a few words from our executive director, Sigrid Wright:
“In a year that brought greater challenges than our community ever thought possible, it was heartwarming to gather with so many supporters eager to engage with CEC’s mission and help create local solutions to climate change. I was struck by the strength and grace of our community, and the power of what can be accomplished when we stand together for a common cause.”
Your generosity helped us raise a record-breaking amount of $243,500. Thanks to you, CEC can continue to offer innovative and tangible community action programs like Solarize, Rethink the Drink, SBC Food Rescue, and our Green Car Shows. We’re also able to launch new initiatives such as pushing local schools to go solar, and encouraging the regional transit district to transition quickly to electric buses.
Thank you so much to the guests at our table that donated so generously. Thank you to our tireless staff who are passionate about our cause and work tirelessly pursuing so many initiatives and ideas. Thank you Sigrid for being our fearless leader and thank you Santa Barbara community for showing your support year after year and donating to the Community Environmental Council.
