THAT is Happening in Downtown Santa Barbara?! 😎
Popular fitness concept F45 is making its way through the U.S. from Australia and will soon open a training facility at 528 Anacapa St. (adjacent to Dune Coffee Roasters). With fitness in mind, you might want to check out the freshly updated lululemon store at 740 State St. for the latest gear! Filling lulu’s old temporary space at Paseo Nuevo (across from Nordstrom) will be The Yes Store, a Santa Barbara holiday favorite. Two longstanding State Street clothing stores are making exciting changes as The Closet Trading Co. moves to 714 State St. (formerly Lole, Prim Boutique) and Wendy Foster will head north to 1220 State St. (previously Celadon House). ShineUp, a new men’s clothing store, has opened in the Funk Zone at 14 Helena Ave. and the long awaited Habitat Home & Garden store at 400 State St. is now open. There are also two new electric bike stores at each end of State Street: Electric Bikes of SB to the north at 1345 State St. and e-Bikery to the south at 506 State St.
Oku restaurant is open for business on the waterfront at 29 E. Cabrillo St. in the old El Torito building. Around the corner in the Funk Zone, the latest concept from Acme Hospitality is Pearl Social (131 Anacapa St.), which will take up the Les Marchands space. Also in the Funk Zone, Rincon Brewery will have a new taproom in the former La Place Wine & Beer spot at 205 Santa Barbara St. M. Special Brewery will make its debut downtown when it occupies the 4,000 sf building and patio space vacated by Tonic at 634 State St. Down the street, Pascucci is set to move into the old Cadiz space at 509 State St., and Viva has rebranded as Eleven14 Crafthouse & Kitchen.
The iconic Enterprise Fish Co. building at 225 State St. has come on the market for sale at $4.9 million. Santa Barbara-based SeaVees, which opened their flagship retail store this spring at 24 E Mason St., will occupy the recently sold 8,683 sf building at 35 W. Haley St. for their new headquarters. The most notable commercial State Street sale this year was the 60,000 sf Howard-Canfield building at 827 State St., which is home to H&M and Wendy Foster, among other tenants. The 2,790 sf building at 1103 State St. sold to a local investor and is also on the market for lease.
