2720 Painted Cave Road, Santa Barbara CA

Laurel Springs Ranch is a beautiful, peaceful and meaningful space dedicated to conscious ways of living. Located on the 160 acres, Laurel Springs Ranch rests in the hills above Santa Barbara, adjacent to the Los Padres National Forest. 2,800 feet in elevation, and a 20 minute jaunt from Santa Barbara, but miles away from distraction,
annoyance and routine. The land is dynamic and compassionate, with every new day providing a fresh array of sights, sounds and smells. Since 2000 Laurel Springs has undergone many physical renovations and improvements. The generous application of loving care and the powerful significance of the land, however, remain constant. All who visit this unique ranch site are enriched and rejuvenated.

The Ranch
With stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, the Channel Islands, Los Padres National Forest, Santa Barbara and Goleta, Laurel Springs Ranch is blessed with a refreshing perspective of the world. But even on a cloudy day, one can enjoy the spacious lawns, tasteful landscaping, organic garden, spring-fed pond, cliffside jacuzzi and pervasive quietude that compose the main campus. Untouched by city lights, the night sky is a vision of velvety darkness punctuated with brilliant stars. And when the moon comes out to play, she illumines the grounds with her soft, ample light.

The Main Lodge
Built in 1905, “The Lodge” is the main center of activity at Laurel Springs. It maintains a rustic charm that is complemented by clean, modern facilities. There are eleven guest rooms and 10 baths located in the lodge. Two additional rooms are located in the pool cabin, across from the lodge. There is a solar heated pool and jacuzzi just outside. One will also enjoy the sunroom, overlooking both the pool and the Pacific Ocean; ideal places to journal, read, or share a conversation.

The Main House
This spacious, 3,500 sq ft., 4 bedroom/3.5 bath home has a custom fireplace to add to the cozy atmosphere. View the sunset & sunrise from the high perched deck and enjoy a soak in the hot tub.

Still Point Yoga Studio
The 1,100 square foot yoga studio offers beautiful bamboo floors, a high-end sound system, shavasana-appropriate lighting and gorgeous views of the setting sun. It is a beautiful space to enrich your practice. Afternoon breezes whistling through the nearby pines gently refresh awareness of one’s own breath and what better place to offer your sun-salutations, than the fiery pink and purple
evening sky.

Deep Water Theater
Adjacent to the Lodge is the 1,600 square foot “Theater.” While lacking a large red curtain, a proscenium or any stage hands, the theater provides a cozy meeting space with a beautiful stone fireplace and French doors that open to the South gardens. Built in 1982 as a space for Jane Fonda’s summer drama camps for kids, the Theater with its nearby 20 ft. swing is a perfect place to make acquaintance with your own inner child.

The Pond
The pond, fed by the Laurel Springs, is a pure delight. For the hardy, enjoy a refreshing spring or autumn dip, and for everyone else, delight in its soft cooling waters for the 5 months of Summer. Given the highest score for purity in a recent test, the pond offers a clean break from a hot summer day. Enjoy the canoe, the floating raft and the pond-side ambience any time of the year.

The Trails
Plenty of great hiking awaits both the experienced and novice hiker. Several trails right on ranch property offer a variety of terrain and extend the already great views of the ocean and town below. One of the historical Chumash painted caves is an easy walk down Painted Cave road, and the historical remains of Knapp’s Castle is a moderate hike up the road.

The Garden
The organic garden and greenhouse provide an amazing array of vegetables and herbs for meals. The garden
currently grows cherries, chard, zucchini, tomatillos, asparagus, eggplant, basil, sweet peas, oregano, thyme, all kinds of lettuce and so much more. Near the yoga studio is a small orchard which provides plenty of apples, apricots, plums and Asian Pears.
