Painted Cave | Peaceful | Multi-Level | Updated | Wood Burning Stove
Perched above the community of Santa Barbara and nestled away in the mountains is the beloved community of Painted Cave. Over the past 15 years, I have had the opportunity to represent the sale of many properties in the outlying neighborhoods surrounding town, and Painted Cave is one of my favorites. Surrounded by trees, trails, bordered by Laurel Springs Ranch and Knapp’s Castle, this community has an incredible history.
Wind your way up from Highway 154 up Painted Cave Road and take in the curves of the road and slow down to appreciate the rock climbers practicing bouldering across the road and then stop and take a short walk up to the ‘Chumash Painted Cave State Historic Park” that has sandstone boulders painted by Chumash Native Americans estimated to date back to the 1600’s or earlier.
This particular house was incredible to discover and well-loved and cared for by the lovely sellers who were a pleasure to work with and left behind many tools, gardening tips, lamps, canned fruit and lots of good vibes. The gated driveway is very spacious and can accommodate many guests and their vehicles or even an RV and boat in addition to the space in the meticulously maintained garage.
The fully fenced yard surrounding the house is bursting with raised gardening beds, privacy creating bamboo, 16 various types of fruit trees, towering native trees, drought-tolerant landscaping and native sandstone patios plus fantastic garden art!
The home itself is wrapped in patios and decks that create outdoor rooms of their own on all sides and levels of the house. These decks and patios expand the size of the home and bring the ability to entertain many guests to the property.
Surrounded by trees, the house is comprised of 3 bedrooms- 2 on the first floor and 1 upstairs on the 2nd floor as well as 2 remodeled bathrooms with Marazzi tile and Hansgrohe fixtures.
There are two living rooms- one on the upper level with a wood-burning stove and the other downstairs next to the updated, open kitchen with granite countertops and modern stainless steel appliances which all add to the charm. Gleaming douglas fir floors complement the natural feel of the home and the cathedral ceilings, circulating fans and updated dual pane windows make it feel very comfortable at any time of year.
Feeding into Mountain View elementary attendance area, almost equidistant to Santa Ynez or Santa Barbara, this incredible home will definitely make you want a cabin in the woods!
